A Time, a Place, Our Gaze: Re-framing the Subaltern features early twentieth-century photographs of black New Brunswickers from Kenneth Scott’s collection. It provides vital historical and cultural context about the relevance of photography for black individuals and communities in the Black Diaspora and the centuries-long presence of black populations in New Brunswick, Canada. This exhibition catalogue features a foreword by Kenneth Scott, an introduction by Charmaine A. Nelson, and essays by Chris Gismondi, Graham Nickerson, and Harvey Amani Whitfield.
