Tara’s Body
Bored of the treadmill? Looking for something more upbeat than yoga? Want to stay fit and have fun? Yes, it’s possible! May we suggest that you check out Tara’s Body, a YouTube fitness channel. With almost 600,000 subscribers, we’re not alone in working up a sweat with this talented and super fit black health and fitness star. Although so many black athletes excel in professional sports, somehow, black people have been almost universally shut out of the health and wellness industry as entrepreneurs, advocates, and media personalities. But we’re happy to report that this gorgeous black woman – fitness model and personal trainer – has broken through with her sizzling collection of dance workouts featuring a selection of African and Black Diasporic music fit for the nightclub downtown or the one in your basement. This stunning, effervescent, and athletic trainer will lead you through dance workouts, typically 20 to 30 minutes each, designed to build stamina and muscles. From Samba to Hip Hop, Dancehall to Soca, Tara graciously shares the floor with other dance and exercise pros who will inspire you to get off the sofa, put down the chips, and dance your way to better health. Our personal favourite is her 30-minute Latin Dance work out with Luis (also fit and fine) who guides us through an upbeat mix of exercises done to the gotta-dance rhythms of Salsa, Reggaeton, and Dembow. Besides winding, bumping, and twerking away a few pounds, as an added bonus if you pay attention, you’ll also learn some French, Tara’s native language. Most definitely, as her YouTube channel proclaims, Tara’s Body is “Votre dose de bonne humeur quotidienne!”
