Drake “Ices Out” CN Tower

How many people command the respect and star status to take over one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks? Not many. Well, one such global edifice icon in Toronto is our CN Tower, and friends, Drake just took it over on May 14th, 2026! That’s right, in case you weren’t in town for the spectacular light show, Drake got Toronto native Anil Mohabir (founder of the digital and tech company Studio AM) and his 300-strong-crew to create a magical effect of the CN Tower being sheathed in a coat of ice on a super-tight, three week-deadline.

To pull this off Anil had to source 75 high-powered projectors from Canada and Germany to the tune of $15 million. The technology was placed in key areas like the roof off the CBC’s Toronto headquarters and at various spots around the base of the tower. What was this all for? A mega-watt, Drake-sized music drop of course! Enter the Iceman.

Global mega star Drake took over one of Canada’s most iconic structures to announce his forty-three song, three-album drop called Iceman. With over 130 billion music streams globally, we should not be surprised that Drake’s oversized music drop caused disruptions and outages on Apple Music and Spotify. Such was the frenzy amongst his die-hard fans to be the first to hear the new tracks. All of this has led the CBC’s Kayla McLean to declare 2026 the “Summer of Drake” and we’re kinda inclined to agree!
