Contigo Travel Mugs

At Black Maple Magazine, we like healthy eating and healthy drinking. This includes cold favourites like Ka’Chava shakes and coconut water and hot ones like ginger tea and hot cocoa. But since we’re often enjoying these drinks on the go, indulging in our favourite beverages requires a good thermal travel mug.

Thermal or insulated mugs ensure that cold drinks stay cold and hot ones stay hot (or at least that’s what they’re supposed to do). But not all travel mugs are created equal. While some do not have the vacuum seal to keep them from leaking, others fail to maintain the desired temperature of beverages, and still others are made with dangerous chemicals known as bisphenols (BPA) and phthalates which have been linked to cancer and impaired immune function among other disasterous health consequences.

For added safety, especially when drinking hot beverages, to get your coffee, tea or hot cocoa flowing you have to unlock the mug by activating the button on top of the lid and pressing the button on the side. And speaking of temperature, when we test drove these babies with our favourite black tea and coffee, our Contigo travel mugs kept our drinks piping hot for hours (so caution is needed).
