Fugitifs!: Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, Quebec City, Canada

Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec

The MNBAQ presents the Fugitives! exhibition, designed and orchestrated by historian and hip-hop artist Webster. Nine illustrators create the faces of 13 slaves described in advertisements published in La Gazette de Québec and La Gazette de Montréal. The portraits are integrated into the gallery of portraits of city dignitaries presented in the 350 Years of Artistic Practices in Québec exhibition, thus restoring a human face to individuals who were dehumanized by slavery.

The exhibition is presented in conjunction with the Culture visuelle et mémoire de l’esclavage au Québec conference.
